Tourist attractions regulatory mapping and reform project

Making it easier to commence and operate tourist attraction in Western Australia.
Last updated:

The Tourist Attractions Regulatory Mapping and Reform Project commenced in July 2019. The project aims to reduce regulatory barriers and time delays in the approvals process for the development of tourist attractions and supports the Government’s goal of assisting proponents of tourist attractions navigate the approval process.  For the purposes of this project, tourist attractions are considered to be leisure and tourism experiences that add to the natural, social and cultural values of a particular destination.

The project will also support the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation’s Case Management Framework, led by Tourism WA. More information on the Case Management Framework can be found here

Led by the Department of Treasury, this project is undertaken in collaboration with other government agencies, industry associations and individual businesses to deliver:

  • regulatory process maps that clarify the regulatory pathways proponents of tourist attractions need to navigate as they seek to commence or expand their operations; and
  • practical and achievable recommendations developed in collaboration with key stakeholders to streamline approvals and other regulatory processes, reduce delays, improve guidance and other resources for businesses, and support ongoing regulatory reform.
