Types of offences

- committed directly against computers, computer systems and communications technologies. Examples: hacking, denial of service, distributed denial of service
- where the use of the internet or information technology is integral to the commission of the offence. Examples: eBay fraud, email threats, email stalking, stealing, unlawful use of computer systems.
Technology enabled crime is not:
- offences where the use of a technology is merely incidental to the commission of the offence. Examples: use of a phone to video record an event or stealing a computer.
