Heritage Awards finalists compete for coveted industry recognition

Northam's Farmers Home Hotel and Fremantle's Warders Hotel and Emily Taylor are among the 31 finalists for this years' awards and are among seven projects competing for the Award for Excellence in Conservation or Adaptive Reuse of a State Registered Place.

Over 60 nominations were received for this year's awards program, illustrating the high level of commitment from individuals and organisations to developing celebrating the history of their local community.

The Heritage Awards, now in their 29th year, recognise outstanding contributions to conserving and protecting historic places for future generations, and celebrate innovative and exemplary practices in the interpretation and promotion of our State's heritage.

Seven Western Australians have been acknowledged as finalists in the individual award categories for their voluntary or professional commitment to the heritage sector.

A Judges Award, and the lauded Gerry Gauntlett Award, will also be presented to one of the category winners in acknowledgement of their outstanding excellence in the field and commitment to preserving Western Australia's history.

The 2021 Western Australian Heritage Awards ceremony will be presented on November 19. More information on the finalists can be found at http://www.dplh.wa.gov.au/heritage-awards.
