A new Aboriginal Employee Housing Grants Program is available for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions.

The grants program will support the valuable work of ACCOs across the North-West by providing up to 30 secure and stable homes for Aboriginal employees and families – and will enable those employees to improve their employment, income and financial wellbeing.

The $15.9 million program will provide ACCOs the opportunity to apply for grant funding to either build, refurbish existing or spot purchase homes for their Aboriginal employees.

The Department of Communities invites ACCOs with a need for Aboriginal employee housing to register their interest in collaborating on the design of the grants program. This information will be used to shape the grants framework with formal applications to be sought in April 2024.
The program aims to strengthen the ACCO sector so it can continue providing critical and culturally safe services to Aboriginal communities. It also aims to increase housing supply and improve liveability and employment outcomes for Aboriginal people across the North-West.

The program is an investment of the North-West Aboriginal Housing Fund – an initiative of the State Government supported by the Department of Communities and Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and the Commonwealth Government.
