CONNECT Sustainable Industries, a recipient from X-TEND Round 3, is a regional-based program which was delivered by Innovation Cluster in Vasse, by leaders in supporting commercialisation and regional innovation.

Background

The goal of the CONNECT Sustainable Industries program was to support start-up businesses focused on creating future energy projects and driving sustainable industries for regional WA.

Approach

The program supported businesses with networking events, mini “hackathons”, commercialisation mentoring, a start-up incubator and an investor roundtable and regional showcase event.

Innovation Cluster stated: “The X-TEND WA grant process is very straightforward compared to other grants programs! The application process is easy to follow and the ongoing project support from JTSI is really appreciated.”

Outcome

The X-TEND grant funding enabled Innovation Cluster to support regional businesses through their CONNECT Sustainable Industries program. The program gave participating businesses access to training and expertise not usually available to them and connected them to the broader innovation ecosystem.

A participant from the program said: “I wish to express my appreciation for the substantial value derived from the program. The knowledge and insights gained have been pivotal in uncovering our core values, fostering confidence, and equipping us with essential tools for success, with a particular emphasis on sustainability.

The X-TEND WA Program is one of several grants operating through the New Industries Fund
