Renew asbestos removal licence

You can renew your licence 90 days before expiry. You must apply to renew before the expiry of the licence. 

Your asbestos licence remains valid while your renewal application is being assessed, allowing you to continue asbestos work until a decision is made.

Your licence may not be renewed if no asbestos work has been completed since your licence was first granted or last renewed. WorkSafe will verify this through asbestos work notification records.

Courtesy renewal reminder notices are sent by email and SMS. To ensure you receive reminders, ensure your contact details are up to date. 

1. You'll need

• Your licence number (shown on your licence or search WA Licence Search).
• If operating under a company, provide Australian company number
• If applying for Class A, you need to provide a certified safety management system ((SMS certified to AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 within 3 years by JAS-ANZ, Exemplar Global, or qualified auditor)
• If using a business trading name, provide a business extract issued by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).
• If the approved nominated supervisor has changed since the licence holders last renewal a Change of nominated supervisor form is also required. 
• Visa/Mastercard for fee payment.

What happens next

Licence applications typically take 6-8 weeks to process. WorkSafe will:
• Assess your application and decide if an asbestos removal licence can be issued. We will contact you if we need more information to process your application.
• Withdrawn or refused New Class B applications are eligible for a partial refund only.
• If granted, we will add your licence details to the WA Online Licence Search.
• Asbestos removal licences are valid for 5 years.
• You must notify WorkSafe at least 5 working days before you start any licensed asbestos removal work.
• Class B work must be completed with a nominated supervisor readily available.
