As Western Australia’s leading hazard management agency, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services performs a critical role coordinating emergency services for a range of natural disasters and emergency incidents threatening life and property.

About the program
Our human resources graduate program is a dynamic 18 month, full time placement.
As a graduate officer, you are part of the Human Resources and Safety team that works on a broad range of meaningful projects and initiatives collaborating with staff across the department as well as external partners and contractors.
Your work may include:
- conducting research and analysis to inform evidence based policy and decision making
- drafting high quality correspondence, reports and briefing materials
- supporting the review and improvement of HR policies, procedures and systems.
We provide structured learning and many other development opportunities designed to help you build your professional capability and confidence.
The position is based at the Emergency Services Complex in Cockburn Central.

What we’re looking for in candidates
- Graduates who hold a tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline completed in 2023, 2024 or by December 2025
- Willingness to learn and improve
- Passionate about the public service and making a meaningful contribution to the WA community
- Well developed written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player.
