About the program

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage’s Graduate Program is an important part of our commitment to invest in the future by recruiting the best talent for our business.  

We seek dedicated, innovative and talented individuals for our 12 month program, and look to them to provide unique insights and perspectives on our work in the community including:

  • Aboriginal heritage and lands management
  • Crown land administration
  • historic heritage conservation services
  • integrated land and infrastructure policy development
  • land use planning and policy development.

Our program offers countless opportunities for graduates to immerse themselves in professional development and to build their social capital in the department. We strive to support our graduates to establish their professional identity and to contribute to building an inclusive workplace culture.

Program highlights

  • A bespoke and impactful onboarding program
  • A tailored 18 month in-house mentoring program with professional coaching
  • Regular exposure to members of the corporate executive including our director general
  • Access to strategic and state significant projects, as well as the management teams and decision makers
  • Continuous personal and professional development opportunities, in particular soft skills training
  • Exposure to our regional footprint including the possibility of a regional field trip
  • Targeted rotations that provide multidisciplinary experiences

  • Enrolment in the Public Sector Commission’s 10 month graduate development program, Launch
