Foster carers play a vital role in changing the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing support, nurturing, guidance, and love.

Hannah and her husband currently care for four children. The eldest is 12 years old and the three younger children are siblings, aged four, five and six. Hannah has fostered the three younger siblings since birth as she believes it is vital to keep siblings under the one roof, connected to each other and connected to culture.

Hannah places great importance on making sure the children have connection to family and culture and the last school holidays, she accompanied her oldest foster child to see his family in New South Wales.

Hannah’s parents have also been an important part of the children’s lives and they have been assessed and approved as short-break (respite) carers.

Hannah regularly attends foster carer events, and is known for her positivity and optimism. Carer events are an opportunity for Hannah to connect with other carers and share with others the experience of the role of caring for the children in her care.

Hannah’s case workers say it is a privilege to witness the children develop and grow; and for them to be part of a loving and culturally appropriate foster placement.
