On 26 August 2026, the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence unveiled WorkforceFDV, a dedicated family and domestic violence workforce entity, marking a significant milestone in Western Australia’s efforts to strengthen responses to family and domestic violence.
WorkforceFDV will strengthen the family and domestic violence workforce by building capability, supporting professional development and fostering greater consistency in practice across the sector. It will drive workforce development across government, the community sector and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and will play a critical role in implementing key system reform actions, including the Family and Domestic Violence Workforce Capability Framework and the Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework.
WorkforceFDV is being delivered by the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing in partnership with Stopping Family Violence, Council of Aboriginal Services WA, Aboriginal Health Council WA, Community Skills WA and Professor Donna Chung. WorkUP in Queensland is supporting the establishment of WorkforceFDV.
The launch of WorkforceFDV coincided with the release of several other key initiatives under the Strengthening Responses to Family and Domestic Violence System Reform Plan 2024–2029, including Western Australia's first dedicated Perpetrator Response Framework and updated Practice Standards for Perpetrator Intervention.
Together, these reforms are designed to keep the safety of victim-survivors at the centre of every response while improving the consistency, quality and effectiveness of interventions for people who use violence.
