Statutory fees
Jurors are entitled to be paid fees according to the Juries Regulations.
An attendance fee will be paid if a person is not in receipt of any income on any given day. The attendance fee is paid when the personal bank and employment details have been recorded.
Employer claims
Employers other than a State Government agency may submit a claim for reimbursement for days the employee attends to serve, along with payslips to support the employee has been paid.
The claim form will require a statutory declaration explanation and sign off by the employee to confirm they have been paid as expected.
Claims do not extend to those granted a deferral or excusal on the attendance day.

Self Employed claims
A self-employed person may submit a claim for lost personal income for the days they attend to serve, with evidence to support the financial loss.
The claim form will require a detailed explanation of the loss and how the claim amount has been calculated.
Claims may not be granted to those that seek a deferral or excusal on the attendance day.

Primary Carer
The Department of Justice will pay or reimburse the out-of-pocket costs when the primary carer attends jury service on days they do not usually require care. To be eligible to claim childcare, daycare, family care, outside school care or respite care, the facility provider must be licenced.
You are responsible for making bookings, placing, and collecting children, and knowing the business hours of the provider. Please enquire about the cancellation policy of the provider, as you will only be reimbursed for days you attend to serve.
It is recommended you make arrangements for an alternative person to collect your children if you are part of a jury that is deliberating as you may not be able to leave during this time.

Travelling allowance
A return travel allowance is payable from home to the court for days attended to serve.
The public transport fare is paid when attending a Perth court. Regional circuit courts with no public transport will be paid per kilometre.
Taxi’s and other rideshare options are not considered public transport and those costs will not be reimbursed.
Travel cost does not extend to and from work site locations.
Any costs associated with parking and/or infringements are the responsibility of the juror and will not be reimbursed.

Business Operators
Reimbursement for serving on a jury does not apply to a business loss. Reimbursements can only be made in respect to a person who attended jury service. You must provide evidence of lost personal income, excluding the impact on the business.
If you pay yourself a wage or continued to draw an income from the business then this can be used to support your claim.

Once completed and signed appropriately, scan both sides and attach all relevant supporting evidence and email the court as shown on the claim form. Alternatively, you can post, or hand deliver the form and all supporting evidence to the court.
