Wholesale Electricity Market

The Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) supplies electricity to more than a million households and businesses in the State's south-west via the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

The Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) in Western Australia commenced in September 2006. It is established under the Electricity Industry (Wholesale Electricity Market) Regulations 2004 and is governed by the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules (WEM Rules).
