Our Women’s Interests team has reached a significant milestone today with the release of the Implementing Respect@Work: WA State Government Progress Report 2022 which highlights the progress made by the State Government in implementing the relevant recommendations of the Respect@Work Report, handed down by the Australian Human Rights Commission National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces in 2020.

The Respect@Work Report outlined 55 recommendations addressed to all levels of government, industry, business and the community to prevent and respond to sexual harassment in Australian workplaces.

In 2021, the State Government, through the Department of Communities, committed to implementing 18 Respect@Work recommendations relevant to State and Territory government agencies.

Women’s Interests Manager Nikki Kozulin said the State Government is in its second year of reporting, with significant progress made to create safer, more respectful and accountable workplaces for all workers in WA.

“So far, nine recommendations are completed and nine recommendations are in-progress.

“This important work contributes to the broader commitment of government through the implementation of Stronger Together: WA’s Plan for Gender Equality to ensure that women and girls are safe and free from violence, discrimination and harassment in their homes, workplaces and in the community,” Nikki said.
