This strategy focuses on the identification and de-constraining of land suitable for industrial activity for the long term, allowing for in an industrial land bank for the future.
The Economic and employment lands strategy provides a coordinated and proactive approach to assisting in the facilitation of industrial land use development. The strategy was prepared collaboratively by the department, LandCorp and the Department of State Development (now the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation).
This strategy provides a clear planning framework to facilitate the streamlined delivery of appropriately zoned industrial land to the market, enabling the market to respond to forecast demand over the next 20 years.
The strategy has identified 37 potential areas for future industrial land use investigation, categorised into short, medium and long term sites. The delivery timeframes for these sites are based on the necessary feasibility studies and site investigations required to enable sites to be rezoned for industrial purposes.
