Who we have the authority to deal with

The Public Sector Commission has a role under the Corruption, Crime and Misconduct Act 2003 to ensure minor misconduct matters are dealt with in an appropriate way.

The Public Sector Commission can consider allegations involving:

  • employees of: 
    • public sector agencies
    • local governments
    • public universities 
    • public utilities
  • members of government boards and committees.

Who we do not have the authority to deal with?

The Commission cannot consider allegations involving:

  • sworn police officers
  • members of a House of Parliament or the Clerk of a House of Parliament
  • elected members of a local government or council of a local government
  • an officer employed at the Corruption and Crime Commission including the Commissioner 
  • the Public Sector Commissioner
  • the Parliamentary Inspector of the Corruption and Crime Commission or their employees
  • the holder of a judicial office. 

The Corruption and Crime Commission has jurisdiction over some of the above officers.
