The Commission’s assessment process
1. Acknowledge
When we receive your report, you receive a notice or email to let you know we have it.
2. Assess
We assess your report to identify whether it contains allegations of minor misconduct and sufficient information to support those allegations.
We might contact you for more information to help us assess your report.
We may make initial inquiries in some cases but not in every case. We decide whether this is needed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account a range of factors.
We then complete our assessment and decide whether there is a reasonable basis to suggest minor misconduct may have occurred.
Reports made with no supporting information will unlikely be acted upon.
An assessment is not an investigation into your report – it is our initial consideration of your information.
Please note that you do not need to provide proof and should not engage in any unlawful or improper activity to gain information to support your report.
We write to you, usually by email, to let you know the outcome of our assessment.
If you want an update on your report, email minormisconduct@psc.wa.gov.au
3. Outcome
What happens here depends on whether we assess your report as meeting the threshold for minor misconduct.
How long does it take the Commission to assess your report?
The Commission aims to assess reports as quickly as possible. The complexity of the issues, the volume of information provided, and the number of allegations being managed at a given time may affect assessment timeframes.
