About us

We are one of 9 regional development commissions across WA. Our job is to help make life better for people in the Gascoyne by supporting the region’s economic and social development.

We play a significant role in increasing and improving the ‘liveability’ of a town – the things that make life enjoyable and easy for the people who live there.

We work directly with the office of the Minister for Regional Development to:

  • create more jobs and better career options
  • grow and diversify the businesses in the area
  • figure out what kinds of infrastructure (such as houses, roads, etc.) the region needs to grow
  • help local businesses succeed
  • make sure that people in the region get the same quality of government services (such as healthcare and education) as people in big cities
  • help the region's economy grow and keep an eye on how well it's doing.

Benefits of doing a traineeship with us

  • Work in either our Carnarvon office or our Exmouth office. In our Carnarvon office you are a part of a friendly and supportive team of 12. In Exmouth join a great team of 4 who will support you through your traineeship. You get to dive into different projects and give hands on help, with full training provided.
  • You can create real impact by supporting the things that make a difference to the lives of local businesses and residents. For example you might chat to a farmer in Carnarvon one day, the next to a whale shark operator in Exmouth, using what they tell you in your work.
  • You include what you learn in these discussions plus other information and data in reports and briefing notes for the Minister for Regional Development. This is how we make sure things happen in Carnarvon.
  • An awesome chance to grow your career in the public sector!

Perfect for …

We’re looking for young people who:

  • are keen to learn new skills
  • can work on their own and with a team
  • are interested in what makes a regional town ‘tick’ and ways to help them grow
  • have a positive attitude and are ready to take on new challenges.
