The Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP) mandates targets for the award of contracts to Aboriginal businesses and ACCOs by WA Government agencies. The APP further supports employment and business opportunities for Aboriginal people through the APP’s Aboriginal participation requirements, which require agencies to meet an Aboriginal employment target or an Aboriginal business subcontracting target on certain contracts.
In 2024, a Review of the APP was undertaken to:
1. Assess agency compliance with the APP’s targets;
2. Identify the extent to which the APP was achieving its aims;
3. Provide recommendations to update the APP; and
4. Incorporate the findings from the Office of the Auditor-General’s Audit into the Effectiveness of the Implementation of the Aboriginal Procurement Policy tabled in Parliament on 21 November 2024.
