From 01/06/2026 the Security Competency Testing Program for Security Officers and Crowd Controllers will be administered by the Financial, Administrative and Professional Services Training Council (FAPSTC).

05/02/2026 - Current Renewal Notice Issues

Licensing Services is currently experiencing technical problems issuing renewal notices to some licences holders.

It is the responsibility of licence holders to ensure their licences remain current and renewals can still be submitted without a renewal notice following the instructions here: Security Licence Renewals

The expiry date of each licence is located on the back of your identification card.

04/12/2025 - Changes to Accepted Training Certificates 

From 01/01/2026 only training that has been completed with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by WA Police Force and completed in Western Australia will be accepted for licensing purposes. List of current approved RTO's

Licensing Services (Security) regulates and manages the security industry and is responsible for:

  • issuing security industry licences
  • renewal of security industry licences
  • monitoring of security industry licences.

Licensing Services (Security) aim to provide the community of Western Australia with confidence in a professional security industry where competency (training), integrity and accountability are provided and maintained at a high standard.

Opening hours: Monday–Friday, 8.00am–3.00pm (closed public holidays).

Please note: new applications, mutual recognition applications and re-applying for expired licences can only be lodged between 8.00am-12.00pm.

Applicants more than 50km from the Perth GPO can submit at their local police station. This excludes Mutual Recognition applications, as they must be lodged in person at the Licensing office in Cannington.

Allow up to 30 working days from the date of lodgement before requesting a progress update.
