About

The Green Energy Major Projects group provides lead agency cross-government facilitation for green energy projects: 

  • Conventional wind, solar and power wave generation
  • Hydrogen industries
  • Lithium mining operations
  • Critical minerals processing and manufacturing
  • Manufacturing or recycling of green energy products (e.g.: batteries, electrolysers, solar panels and turbines)
     

How we can help

We provide government assistance with green energy projects as a lead agency. Our role is to:  

  • Assess your project and needs against the State’s priorities and provide proponents with relevant advice
  • Understand the regulatory approvals and to help you navigate this process
  • Provide guidance on State significant green energy projects 
  • Facilitate introductions to the relevant State regulatory authorities or Departments

About Environment Online

Environment Online is how the Western Australian Government's conducts the business of water and environment regulation.

Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA)

DBCA brings together the Parks and Wildlife Service, Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, Zoological Parks Authority (Perth Zoo), Rottnest Island Authority, Conservation and Parks Commission, Swan River Trust (Swan Canning Riverpark) and Biodiversity and Conservation Science.

Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS)

Regulate building and mining industries, promote industry safety, health and environmental standards, and protect consumers.

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) was formed on 1 July 2017, as a result of merging the Department of Commerce and Department of Mines and Petroleum.

Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH)

Planning and managing land and heritage for all Western Australians.

About DPLH

Responsible for state level land use planning and management, and oversight of Aboriginal cultural heritage and built heritage matters, the department supports four Ministers and administers a wide range of legislation.

DPLH's key focus areas are:

  • Crown land administration
  • historic heritage conservation services
  • integrated land and infrastructure policy development
  • land use planning and policy development.
