Community Engagement Stalls

Guided by the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), our approach starts with listening. We work collaboratively with community groups to understand their lived experiences of discrimination and harassment, as well as the specific challenges they face. This ensures our work is informed, relevant and responsive, while building trust and supporting practical, culturally appropriate solutions.

Our focus is on preventing discrimination and harassment before issues arise and promoting inclusive practices that benefit individuals, organisations and communities alike.

We support communities to recognise and value equality across all protected attributes, including sex, gender history, race, age, impairment, sexual orientation, religion, political conviction, family responsibility and family status. Through education and practical resources, we help create environments where difference is recognised as a strength rather than a barrier, and support people to understand their rights and responsibilities, and where to seek help when needed.

Our community engagement takes many forms, including:

  • delivering workshops, talks and education sessions

  • delivering youth mentoring programs in collaboration with local councils and not-for-profit organisations

  • participating in regional and metropolitan events such as Pride celebrations, Harmony Week festivals, agricultural shows, fairs, and regional and remote inter-agency awareness tours

  • meeting with government agencies, community organisations, not-for-profit groups and service providers to stay informed about emerging themes and community needs

  • contributing insight and feedback to State Government strategies and working groups

  • working directly with metropolitan, regional and remote communities to raise awareness of equal opportunity law in practical and relevant ways.

You can explore our latest community engagement activities through our announcements and social media or learn more about our education and training opportunities to see how we work with organisations and communities across Western Australia.
