Drivers are urged to take extra care around schools and local roads as students make their way back to the classroom next week.

From Monday, 40km/h zones will be back in operation on schooldays, between 7.30am and 9am and 2.30pm and 4pm unless otherwise signposted - until the end of the school year on Thursday, 17 December.

“Children are some of our most vulnerable road users and because of the excitement of heading back to the classroom, can at times be unpredictable,” said Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner.

“Please ensure you are being extra vigilant around school zones and on local roads.

“Slow down and stick to the slower speed limits.”
