Housing options available to Western Australians who have a housing need and receive a low to moderate income.

The WA Government, Australian Government and non-government organisations provide several types of housing products to Western Australians who have a housing need and receive a low to moderate income.

These products include rental housing options, rental assistance, and information on tenant rights. Eligibility criteria varies from product to product.

To receive advice on your options based on your current household circumstances, and to find out what products you may be eligible for, contact your local Housing office to complete a Housing Options Assessment.

The Department of Communities provides assistance to people experiencing issues related to homelessness. If you are experiencing homelessness or extenuating circumstances, please refer to the Homelessness services webpage.

Rental housing options

Public housing

Housing and Works provides rental accommodation to eligible households across Western Australia. You may be placed on the public housing waiting list if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Community housing

Community housing is affordable housing for people on low to moderate incomes with a housing need.

Non-Government Organisation Housing Program

Information about Non-Government Organisation employee housing and tenancies managed by Housing and Works.

Remote Aboriginal housing

Transitional Housing Program

The Transitional Housing Program provides participants with a stable, affordable home, along with access to tailored support services.

Private Rental Aboriginal Assistance Loan

The Private Rental Aboriginal Assistance Loan (PRAAL) provides financial assistance through a loan scheme to Aboriginal people in private rental accommodation.

Bond assistance loans

Housing and Works offers bond assistance and two weeks' rent in advance as an interest-free loan to help people obtain accommodation in the private rental market.

Disability options

Housing and Works offers a range of housing options to help people with disability access appropriate and affordable housing.

Community Disability Housing Program

Community Disability Housing Program (CDHP) supports people with a disability who require significant and ongoing support to live safely within the community.
