Information about training opportunities for public sector staff purchasing goods and services on behalf of Government agencies.
Last updated:

The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) offers a range of face-to-face, virtual, and online procurement and contract management training opportunities across all phases of the procurement life cycle.

The Skills Academy delivers foundational procurement training through Procurement Fundamentals and Administering and Managing Contracts for public sector staff and agencies that fall within scope of The Skills Academy. Two more procurement courses will be released throughout 2026 – Understanding and Applying the Procurement Framework and Commissioning Community Services.

DTF’s training suite focuses on practitioner‑level capability development, with targeted offerings that build specialist and sector‑specific skills.

In-scope agency staff must use The Skills Academy where a course required is comparable to a course in The Skills Academy Course Catalogue.

For staff and agencies that fall outside of scope, DTF will continue to provide online introductory procurement and contract management training modules. If you are unsure whether your agency or role falls within scope of The Skills Academy, please speak with your manager or agency learning and development team.
