Access Asia Business Grants

The Access Asia Business Grants provide funding for WA businesses to enter or expand their trade with Asian markets. Funding can be used for product marketing, expo/trade visits, cultural/language training and other activities that help build businesses' capacity to trade with Asia.

Clean Energy Future Fund

The Clean Energy Future Fund provides a source of funding to support the implementation of innovative clean energy projects in Western Australia. Clean energy projects will be eligible for funding of between $250,000 and $2 million per project.

Culture and the arts funding

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries distributes grants and funding to support vibrant and sustainable arts, culture and creative industry sectors in Western Australia.

Exploration Incentive Scheme

The Exploration Incentive Scheme is a $10 million per year WA Government initiative that aims to encourage exploration in Western Australia for the long-term sustainability of the state’s resources sector.

Government Co-funded Exploration Drilling

The co-funded Government - Industry Drilling program funds up to 50% of direct drilling costs to promote geoscience exploration and contribute to the economic development of regional areas of WA.

International Competitiveness Co-Investment Fund

The International Competitiveness Co-Investment Fund provides grants of between $50,000 and $100,000 to help businesses to rebuild their existing Asian market business relationships disrupted by COVID-19 and to develop and implement strategies to capture export market opportunities and attract investment that will lead to direct benefits for regional WA.

Local Capability Fund

The Local Capability Fund is an initiative under the WA Government's Plan for Jobs. The purpose of the fund is to assist small and medium enterprises to increase their capability and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the WA Government, major projects and other important markets.

METS Innovation Program 

The METS Innovation Program seeks to broaden support for research projects led by METS companies servicing WA’s mining industry. The program will support the development of new technologies in MRIWA’s strategic focus areas, such as low-emissions technologies, precision and low-impact mining, critical minerals, and the alternative use of tailings and waste.

New Industries Fund - Innovation Booster Grant

The New Industries Fund – Innovation Booster Grant enables small to medium enterprises to develop greater opportunities to commercialise their ideas and innovations and expand to create jobs.

Plastic and Tyres Processing Fund

$15 million in grants funding will be provided to support local processing of plastics and tyres across WA. Access will also be provided to industrial zoned land valued at $5 million for processing infrastructure.

Royalties for Regions: Collie Futures Small Grants Program

This program provides funding for projects that support efforts to drive long-term economic growth and stimulate jobs creation in the Collie region.

Royalties for Regions: Collie Futures Industry Development Fund

Funding is available to new projects which can demonstrate a significant and sustainable impact on the local economy through both increased productivity and creation of jobs in the Collie region.

Australian Government assistance

Manufacturing Modernisation Fund

Round 2 of the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund supports transformation in small and medium manufacturing businesses. It provides co-funded grants to transform manufacturing and to support job growth and a more highly skilled workforce. $50 million will be available for this grant opportunity from 2020-21 to 2022-23.

Advanced Manufacturing Early Stage Research Fund

The Early Stage Research Fund is a $4 million funding initiative and forms part of the $100 million Advanced Manufacturing Fund to boost innovation, skills and employment in advanced manufacturing. The intent is to support small-scale and pilot research projects in advanced manufacturing and benefit smaller firms and early-stage research.

The fund will provide grants to SMEs for rapid initial feasibility testing, allowing the projects to then move quickly to larger-scale research or commercialisation.

Clean Energy Finance Corp - Innovation Fund

The $200 million innovation fund targets a diversified portfolio of Australian-based clean energy investments with a long term commercial outlook. Final investment approval is provided by the Clean Energy Finance Corp Board, which is responsible for investment commitments made under the Clean Energy Finance Corp Act.

Cooperative Research Centres Projects Grants

The Cooperative Research Centres Projects Grants program provides industry-led collaborations with short term (up to 3 years) matched funding to develop important new technologies, products and services. Entrepreneurs’ Programme – Business Growth Grants

The objective of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme is to connect small and medium-sized businesses with the capabilities and networks they need to innovate, compete and grow in Australian markets and/or markets in other countries. Business Management initiative consists of 2 elements:

  1. business advice and facilitation services
  2. business growth grants to assist you to implement your plan’s recommendations.

Innovation Connections provides grant funding to assist businesses to understand their research needs, connect with the research sector and fund collaborative research projects.

Export Market Development Grants

The Export Market Development Grants reimburses expenses incurred for export promotional activities to existing and potential Australian exporters.

Funding is provided to compensate eligible export businesses up to 50% of their promotional expenses over $15,000. The minimum grant is $5,000, the maximum $150,000.

Export Finance Australia provides financial support to eligible projects that boost our ability to extract and process critical minerals in Australia.

Export Finance Australia Export Contract Loan

Export Finance Australia's Export Contract Loan helps small and medium-sized businesses secure the finance required to meet specific export contracts or purchase orders when traditional lenders are unable to help.

Export Finance Australia Small Business Export Loan

Export Finance Australia's Small Business Export Loans helps businesses looking to grow through exporting.

The loans are designed to meet the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, to help them take advantage of export opportunities when financial institutions can't help.

Loans of $20,000 - $350,000 are available, to cover up to 80% of your export contract/s or purchase order/s.

Future Fuels Fund

The Future Fuels Fund focuses on investments to address barriers to low emission vehicle uptake, partnering with the private sector through a co-investment model.

ARENA is currently designing Round 2 of the Future Fuels Fund with a focus on fleets, which will launch in early 2022.

Major Project Status is the Australian Government’s formal recognition of the national strategic significance of a project, through its contribution to economic growth, employment, or contribution to regional Australia.

Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility

The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility is a $5 billion lending facility which provides loans to infrastructure projects in Northern Australia. Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility investments can be used for the development of new infrastructure or the material enhancement of existing infrastructure.

Tradex Scheme

The Tradex Scheme provides an upfront exemption from customs duty and GST for eligible goods imported to Australia that are then exported within one year or another approved period.

This provides a cash-flow benefit to the importer.

The goods may be:

  • exported in the same condition as imported processed or treated then exported
  • incorporated in other goods which are exported.

Export may be carried out by the importer or a third party. The goods must be exported within one year, although approval can be sought to extend this period. The Tradex Scheme is an alternative to the duty drawback arrangements under the Customs Act 1901. Duty drawback allows the importer to claim back customs duty paid on goods that are then exported.
